- Provide proactive and highly responsive leadership, management, and advocacy to staff
- Work closely with the Department Manager and members of the CNP leadership team to develop and execute the department's mission, vision, strategy, goals, and objectives.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top cybersecurity professionals
- Work in partnership with employees and MITRE Project Leaders to match staff member talents to project needs
- Solicit and provide regular feedback from project leaders and to employee(s) throughout the year to discuss employee performance and determine if actions or a conversation are needed (e.g., recognition, development, coaching, and performance improvement, conversations)
- Work with leadership and technical staff to ensure a culture of excellence, teamwork, staff development, continuous learning, and innovation
- Contribute technically to one or more MITRE projects
- Support an effective onboarding experience for new-to-MITRE and new-to-the-group/department employees (e.g., introduce employees to colleagues, and assist with the new employee
- Represent staff to Department and Division Leadership in the areas of staff performance and professional development needs
- Make recommendations to DM for development and promotional opportunities for their employees
- Provide input and recommendations to the DM, for assessment of annual impactful goals and associated rewards for direct reports.
- Facilitate professional development through leadership, coaching, mentoring, and communication
- Promote collaboration and integration with other organizational elements within the department and across the Cyber Solutions Innovation Center Basic Qualifications: • BS and 8 years related experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Secret level security clearance
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, across sponsors, and across MITRE as appropriate and experience leveraging relationships to benefit staff and work programs
- Solid understanding and experience with one or more cybersecurity capabilities
- Solid understanding and experience with operational cyber security practices and commonly used technologies
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Experience leading teams or projects/tasks
- Documented success using collaborative and adaptive leadership competencies Preferred Qualifications: • Experience across MITRE to help group members network and make connections

Job Description:
The Cyber New Professionals (CNP) department within the Cyber Solutions Innovation Center , is seeking one Group Leader for members largely based at MITRE Bedford or McLean locations
The CNP program is adapting new and innovative approaches to the training and development of early career cyber professionals
The Group Leader (GL) will be a core member of the CNP leadership team and serve as the first-line supervisor, coach, and mentor for his or her group members as they grow, learn, and progress in their careers
The Group Leader will also be responsible for helping to recruit new CNP members to support diverse cybersecurity capabilities
In performing these roles, the GL works with Project Leads, Task Leads, and department management to assign the right staff to tasks and projects based on the skills and capabilities required, based on staff development needs and desired work
The GL must be able and willing to be a direct contributor to cybersecurity related capabilities, projects, tasks, or research
This is a Bedford or McLean-based position, although some of the group members might spend significant time at sponsor locations or other MITRE sites
