    What does a Director of an Association Department do?


    The Director of Association Philanthropy provides support services and strategic leadership to the overall associations multiple branches and program areas.

    Additionally, the Director of Association Philanthropy ensures that association leadership, branch management, program directors, and other staff teams have the necessary tools and materials to support their work areas.

    They are regularly responsible for crafting, communicating, and monitoring department plans.

    Furthermore, they will develop and monitor budgets, department strategies, and ensure staff are hired and trained in accordance with Channel Islands YMCA expectations.

    This position may sit on committees and provide feedback and information specific to their support areas to Branch Board of Managers and Association Board of Directors.

    The Director serves as a subject matter expert for the association by providing Philanthropic consultation and support to association leaders, branch management, program directors, and staff

    Take a leadership role in:
    defining and leading implementation of quantifiable and measurable fundraising strategies, supporting the overall workflow for meeting annual campaign goals and planning and execution of Association-wide special events
    Work with other Directors of Association Departments to ensure that Philanthropic needs and campaign materials are created, distributed, and clearly articulated in written and oral form
    Support the development and implementation, and support of the Association level annual campaign and capital campaigns to generate needed resources and maximize opportunities
    Work jointly with related staff on special events and solicit and secure principal gifts from individual, government, corporate, and foundation donors
    Hold monthly prospect moves management sessions with the President & CEO to strategize on top-tier prospect solicitations
    Partner with and direct the Association Development Administrator to execute on grant opportunities from government sources, foundations, and corporations that are in alignment with strategic priorities and/or annual or campaign requests

    Provide support to assist all branches in special event management such as sponsorships, use of database, partner in the development of marketing materials, vendor coordination, script writing, awards, and event-day management.

    Produce and deliver reports to internal leadership and Board of Directors, with the assistance of the Association Development Administrator, demonstrating prospect and donor movement, annual & major gift goals, and progress on goals-to-date
    Oversee the management of the informational database to ensure clean, organized data, lists, reports, and prospect portfolios
    Provide leadership for planned gift and endowment programs, ensuring standards are put in place, resources and training are readily available, goals are identified and tracked, and ongoing support provided to branch volunteer and staff leadership
    Develop and support key relationships both internal and external with community leaders and organizations
    Maintain updated development policies and ensure communication to branch leadership

    Qualifications

    Must be at least 21 years old
    Bachelor's Degree required
    2+ years' previous work related experience preferred
    Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire
    Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire
    Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance
    Ability to participate in the DMV Pull Program
