- Previous experience developing and managing cost estimates for electrical or gas infrastructure.
- Understand joint-pole agreements, right-of-way procedures, licenses, permits, etc.
- Identify requirements and design specifications for new and existing gas facilities.
- Estimate cost of materials, labor, contractor services and equipment for above and underground utility construction projects.
- Prior experience working in Maximo to access cost data.
- Perform analysis of estimated vs. actual costs and units for completed projects.
- Responsible for the timely re-estimate of existing work packages to support field changes when applicable.
- Evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates.
- Prepare and review final estimate packages to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.
- Must be capable of interpreting contract language.
- May perform site visits on a limited basis to inspect and document existing field conditions.
- Makes field sketches for improvements to electric or gas systems using utility standards, specifications, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge of gas and or T&D construction including Federal, State, and company codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of estimating best practices including understanding scope, engineering quantities, constructability, indirect build up, quantifying estimating uncertainty, identifying and calculating risk & opportunities.
- Be able to develop a Basis Of Estimate, Assumptions, Exclusions, and all other underpinning documentation.
- Have the skills to defend estimate during challenge sessions.
- Previous Sage/Timberline estimating software experience required.
- Strong Computer skills MS Office (strong knowledge of Excel), Primavera P6, PowerBI, GIS, work management system (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies.
- Ability to read and understand contract documents, drawings and specifications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Must be located within 1 hours of Newark, New Jersey
