    The Transportation County Supply Specialist will report to the Logan County Headquarters.

    Performs full-performance level duties in ordering, receiving, recording, storing, and shipping of materials and equipment at a district, regional, or state stockroom or warehouse.

    Expectations are clearly defined, and work is reviewed often. Steps, processes, and methods are related within the job duties. Performs related work as required.

    Pay Grade: 10

    Typical Duties and Responsibilities


    • Solicits bids from vendors.
    • Prepares contracts for some purchases
    • Locates and orders supplies and equipment as requested
    • Files, updates, and retrieves invoices, receipts, requisitions, transfers, and other information
    • Determines cost estimates of equipment or materials required
    • Issues materials and/or equipment as requisitioned and directs their shipping and/or delivery
    • Serves as a backup to the Transportation County Office Coordinator when needed
    • Inventories equipment and supplies and assigns inventory numbers as required
    • Enters information into spreadsheets, databases, and REMIS
    • Directs the work activities of other storekeepers and related positions if applicable
    • Types and/or composes purchase orders, correspondence, memoranda, and reports
    • Responsible for making purchases using State P-Card
    • Checks purchase orders for accuracy, completeness, and clarity; corrects any ambiguities in purchase orders and adds needed information
    • Performs analysis of computer inventory printouts with receipts, reports, and files
    • Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver's license may be required.
    Required Skills and Knowledge


    • Knowledge of state and agency purchasing regulations and protocols
    • Knowledge of state, federal, and agency conflict of interest and ethics standards
    • Knowledge of clerical and storeroom methods and procedures
    • Knowledge of transportation and shipping methods and procedures
    • Knowledge of safe handling procedures for equipment and materials involved
    • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and/or bookkeeping
    • Knowledge of governmental purchasing procedures
    • Ability to understand, relay, and follow written and/or oral instructions
    • Ability to safely perform moderately heavy manual labor in lifting and storing materials and/or equipment
    • Ability to operate a forklift may be required for some positions
    • Ability to work with numbers and perform close detailed review of merchandise and documents

    High school diploma or the equivalent.

    Required Education and Experience

    REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION

    High school diploma or the equivalent.


    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a stock clerk or, in a clerical capacity in connection with storeroom or warehouse operations, bookkeeping, accounting, timekeeping, purchasing, inventory work, handling materials.


    Substitution:

    Successful completion of coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience through an established formula.
