    The Global Sourcing Manager, Electronics, will be a member of the Electronics Sourcing Team with responsibility to provide engineering research and technical evaluation of electronic components and electronic sub-systems as well as commodity base management consisting of one or more component categories.

    The successful candidate has experience in an electrical engineering design discipline and has worked directly with electronic component suppliers, distributors and manufacturers representatives.

    The position will be based in the US, preferably in Boston or Santa Barbara or remote with some travel to Santa Barbara and Boston.


    What You'll Do:

    • Manage sourcing activities and supplier relationships. Develop and execute, with input and consensus of all internal stakeholders, sourcing strategies that continuously achieves a competitive advantage for Sonos.
    • Research and evaluate electronic components and sub-systems based on product development, marketing and long-range product roadmap requirements.
    • Partner with Sonos Product Design and Engineering teams to review design specs and recommend sources that can meet Sonos volume, quality, flexibility, and cost requirements. Drive technical decisions that are aligned to strategic sourcing goals.
    • Schedule and lead supplier meetings to review commercial terms and technical roadmaps and formulate a strategy to convey product and market information back to the electronics sourcing and development organizations.
    • Analyze electronic components and sub-systems to create "should cost" models that enable COGS (Cost of Good Sold) calculations early in the development cycle.
    • For assigned component categories, continuously research and monitor the industry and report on significant activities in the areas of new technologies, supplier capacity and R&D investments, mergers and acquisitions, and competitors activities.
    • Support bi-annual supplier performance reviews, factory audits and supplier risk assessments.
    • Review production product designs and execute value engineering activities to achieve product cost reductions, reduce BOM risk and enable long-term manufacturability by proactively identifying and recommending additional component sources.
    • Provide support to all functions of the electronics sourcing organization to enable a successful NPI process and the continuous production of all mature products.
    • Price, capacity, and contract negotiations.
    • Lead sourcing process that includes a cross functional team of Product Development, Engineering, Quality, and Sourcing members

    What You'll Need

    • 8+ years of combined working experience in Engineering Design and Electronics Sourcing domain, preferably working within a high-volume consumer electronics industry.
    • The demonstrated capability to apply analytical techniques to problem solving.
    • Results oriented and strategic thinker, with an ability to influence others.
    • Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural global business environment.
    • Ability to balance business and technical objectives in making sound business decisions.
    • Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain, procurement, engineering or a related field from an accredited university and be willing and able to travel within the US as well as internationally up to 25% of the time.
    • Natural leadership competencies; influences others through style, personality and subject matter expertise rather than organizational design.
