Job Description
The Department of Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The department seeks candidates who can expand the department's research expertise in structural engineering, deliver student centered teaching, and provide mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students.
Candidates must hold a terminal degree in engineering and preference will be given to candidates who hold a terminal degree in Civil Engineering. Preferred areas of expertise include advancing the exploration, design, and construction of structures for space missions and extraterrestrial habitats.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the design and construction of structures for Extreme Environments including for extraterrestrial habitats; strong publication record, potential for securing external research funding; excellence in the classroom; commitment to innovative and experiential learning, effective communication skills; and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
Responsibilities will include the development and instruction of courses for the design and construction of structures for extraterrestrial environments; conduct impactful research in the field of civil engineering – specifically on space habitats, in situ material utilization, materials suitable for extraterrestrial construction, and sustainable infrastructure for space exploration; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the department and across the university to further advance research initiatives in space-related civil engineering; and mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students in research projects.

The Civil Engineering Department, established in 1994, has 10 full time faculty, an enrollment of 90 full-time students, and offers Bachelor and Master degrees. The Civil Engineering department offers four well supported tracks, namely, transportation, structures, geotechnical, and Environmental Sustainability & Resilience track and corresponding labs facilities.
