- Animal Care:
- Assist with handling and restraining animals during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Monitor animals' vital signs and report any abnormalities to the veterinarian.
- Administer medications, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian or RVT under DVM supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in animal enclosures and treatment areas.
- Client Interaction:
- Greet clients and their pets, ensuring a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
- Educate clients on basic pet care, preventive measures, and treatment options.
- Provide compassionate support to pet owners during difficult situations.
- Laboratory and Clinic Tasks:
- Prepare and label samples for diagnostic tests (bloodwork, urinalysis, etc.).
- Assist with X-rays, cardiac ultrasounds, and other imaging procedures.
- Sterilize equipment and maintain a clean and organized clinic environment.
- Restock supplies and manage inventory.
- Animal Handling and Restraint:
- Safely handle animals during procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Assist with anesthesia administration and monitoring.
- Help with surgical preparation and post-operative care.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient history, treatments, and procedures.
- Input data into electronic health records (Cornerstone)
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other staff members.
- Follow protocols and guidelines established by the clinic.
- At least 1 year of veterinary experience within the last 5 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Passion for animals and a desire to contribute to their well-being.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Basic computer skills for record keeping.
- Experience with Cornerstone and Idexx in-house lab equipment is a plus
- The job may involve standing for extended periods, lifting animals, and exposure to animal hair, dander, and odors.
- Some OT may be necessary in come cases.
