- Continually looking for opportunities to have Library patrons feel welcome and connected to library materials and services.
- Assist patrons with locating materials or the information desk, using computers, or explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.)
- Assist with customer service activities including patron orientation, check-in-out, creating displays, shelving, etc.
- Assist with programming, promotional and outreach activities.
- Assist department supervisor with overseeing staff scheduling, training and supply ordering.
- Serve as a department representative to the Staff Team Building committee.
- Assist department supervisor in preparing monthly activity reports and general day to day operations for your assigned library areas; to include general opening/closing activities etc.
- Oversee the ongoing grooming of your assigned library collection areas.
- Know and understand the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.
- Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.
- Other activities as assigned.
- H.S. Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- 2 years library experience preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Good organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent listening, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some weekend and evening work.
- Fast paced public library. Self-starter with ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal guidance.
- Ability to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasional up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Avenu provides local governments with ways to achieve more predictable revenue that supports growth, fuels modernization and ensures compliance with mandated but underfunded programs. Avenu's revenue enhancement and administrative solutions find and recover license, permit and other taxes that cities and counties struggle to collect. The insights and improved fiscal posture enables governments to deliver expected services and sustain a high quality of life for residents.
