    Description

    Job Summary

    Detailed fabrication of steel components involves interpreting blueprints and constructing parts to precise specifications using handheld power tools and track-type oxy-fuel cutting apparatus with minimal supervision.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lay out rises, slopes, and bevels using framing squares.
    • Create and assemble fixtures according to plan.
    • Pass a tack weld test in 3F and 4F positions using an F4 electrode group.
    • Interpret structural steel blueprints (shop drawings).
    • Cambering tasks are also within scope.
    • Operate a 90° angle grinder safely.
    • Heat straighten materials using a torch.
    • Control a cutting torch effectively.
    • Tighten bolts using an impact wrench.
    • Operate an overhead pendant-controlled bridge crane efficiently and safely.
    • Fabricate trusses and rolled beams.
    • Use a radiograph/track torch.
    • Hold a qualified welder certification (class 'C').
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Basic knowledge of the ASIC code of standard practices and AWS D1.1 Chapter 3 (workmanship) is necessary.
    • The ability to read a tape measure to 1/16'' increments and perform addition/subtraction calculations is essential.
    • Understanding weld symbols and basic knowledge of structural steel fasteners is required.
    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
    • Knowledge of procedures 401, 402, 403, 404, and 405 is beneficial.

    Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year.
