    Position Overview

    The Buying Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Buyer and Assistant Director with functions related to product selection, analysis, execution, and communication to support the VandalStores General Merchandise (GM) strategy and goals of ensuring that the VandalStores (including multiple off-site locations and facilities) are a self-sustaining partner within the University of Idaho.
    The position will play a vital role in supporting the merchandise and supply purchasing process to ensure optimal inventory levels and product availability. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate with the merchandise buying team, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to enhance the retail experience for our college community

    Position Qualifications

    Required Experience

    Demonstrated experience with:
    • Cash handling
    • Working in a retail environment
    • Using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization
    Required Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    Required Other
    • Possess a valid driver's license, able to meet the University's driving requirements, and can drive a variety of vehicle types including large vans and panel trucks
    • Ability to work a non standard schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
    Additional Preferred
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures
    • Familiarity with the University of Idaho campus
    Demonstrated experience:
    • With product ordering and flow
    • Supervising employees and delegating tasks
    • With organizational and inventory control/management
    • Effectively communicating with management, staff, and external vendors
    • With MBS
    • Paying attention to detail
    • Multitasking
    • Written and verbal communication skills
    • Maintaining confidentiality
    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
    • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds frequently
    • Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time
    • Stand and walk continuously throughout the shift
