    is hiring an HMI/PLC Applications Engineer in New Berlin, Wisconsin .

    Overview:

    The Application Engineer prepares technical proposals by collaborating with customers and sales representatives to determine system requirements for automation/control and data management. This role involves understanding the customer's process, confirming the equipment list, and determining equipment interface requirements for both new and retrofit control systems. The Application Engineer acts as the bridge between the customer, sales, and the engineering team, addressing engineering queries. The role demands a balance between technical understanding and commercial insight to deliver the best, cost-effective solution.

    Objective:

    Design and implement strategies to convey project, customer, and product data between sales and engineering. Offer technical sales support when needed. Prepare and, at times, help sales in presenting proposals to both internal and external stakeholders.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Formulate specifications and performance criteria for automation/control systems.
    • Conduct cost analysis for integrating unique features and maintain quotation templates for upcoming customer demands.
    • Use program expertise to adjust systems for particular job applications.
    • Oversee equipment setup and establish demonstration norms for product/capability demos both in-house and at client locations.
    • Travel to client sites when necessary to conduct needs assessments and document process flow, equipment, sensors, and safety devices.
    • Provide significant assistance in outlining customer interface needs and estimating related costs. Evaluate client systems to ensure capability for desired functions.
    • Assess alternative methods and suggest equipment or procedure modifications when necessary.
    • Strive to become an expert in the markets served, understanding industry specifics, terminology, and primary drivers of quality, production, and cost.
    • Support the development team in product design, testing, and deployment.
    • Share technical knowledge and training across departments.
    • Assist the sales team in guiding and educating clients on various product lines and uses. Training might involve on-site visits, online seminars, or in-house sessions.
    • Help in formulating training protocols and customizing them to cater to client requirements.
    • Aid in generating specifications, price lists, estimating worksheets, standard quotes, and training programs for present control platforms.
    • Monitor client trends and competitor activities, maintaining technical expertise to understand client needs and tendencies.
    • Offer feedback to engineering teams to facilitate product development, refinement, and troubleshooting.
    • Handle other related duties as designated.

    • Mathematical Ability: Applies basic algebra and geometry concepts.
    • Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and interprets diverse instructions.
    • Computer Skills: Proficiency with M.S. Office Suite and email systems such as Outlook.
