    Corporate Affairs & Communications Department


    The Corporate Affairs & Communications (CAC) department is responsible for managing corporate affairs, branding and reputation, and all internal and external communications. It is GIC's interface with key stakeholders, including the general public, media and employees.

    We are seeking a talented, creative, and collaborative communications professional to join our CAC team as an Associate based in GIC's New York office for a 1-year contract role. You will be a core part of the team that protects and enhances GIC's reputation with external and internal stakeholders across our three offices in the Americas – New York, San Francisco, and Brazil.

    Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated and excited by the opportunity to work on a wide range of internal and external communications activities.

    In this role you will gain exposure to:

    Internal communications & employee engagement:

    • Work with local CAC team to support executives across three Americas' offices by understanding the needs of senior management and helping prepare strategic communication plans to drive employee engagement forward in the local offices.
    • Help develop and execute creative ways to engage our employees, with support from our employee communications and brand teams based in Singapore. Activities may include producing video content (developing storyboards, Q&A, etc.) and executing creative ways to reach employees through internal newsletters, podcasts, in-person activations like fireside chats, etc.
    • Help ensure employees are engaged in company initiatives, including social impact programs and ERG activities.
    • Work with HQ team to coordinate and draft local communications alongside larger company events or initiatives and publish timely information for local employees.
    • Lead on drafting internal articles that showcase local employees and investments and engage the larger GIC business.
    • Conduct research and data collection tied to internal initiatives.
    • Ensure communication strategy is consistent and reflects the organization's strategic vision.

    Thought leadership for the Americas' region:

    • Work with investment teams to research and develop specific regional themes and topics the company should focus on.
    • Support Americas' executives in preparation for key speaking engagements.
    • Collaborate closely with team members to showcase GIC as a leading long-term global investor, thought leader and partner of choice by tapping media outreach and social channels.
    • Support on the ideation and execution of regional events (internal and external) to support GIC's brand awareness and deliver business value for our teams.
    • Be involved in research and the production and publication of thought leadership content in a variety of formats (speeches, op-eds, presentations, etc.), across a variety of channels including our digital platforms such as GIC's ThinkSpace, and conferences. Our engaging content enables various stakeholders to understand GIC, including the comparative advantages of the firm.
    • Maintain good relations with Americas' based organizations such as industry associations and thinktanks to increase awareness of GIC.

    Earned communications:

    • Conduct landscaping research to support communications plans, including identifying and understanding niche industry publications to support our asset class specific media strategies.
    • Develop ideas and draft pitches to be shared with the media.
    • Help us in the planning and disclosure of transaction announcements. Write, review and proof communications materials, as required.
    • Contribute to reputation management activities and work with senior team members to provide value-add counsel to the investment teams in assessing reputation risks. This will involve working with other internal teams such as legal, compliance and tax and external deal advisors.
    • Support the development and execution of communication projects to engender a better understanding of GIC in the Americas. This includes working with senior leaders to create earned and owned media opportunities and supporting key regional events including GIC's Bridge Forum and Partnership Forum.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum bachelor's degree in corporate communications, public relations, journalism or equivalent.
    • At least 2 years of communications/public affairs experience in a fast-paced, high-performing organization.
    • Passion for distilling complex information into compelling, concise content and produce targeted materials for a variety of audiences.
    • Proven attention to detail and accuracy, even when managing multiple projects at once.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills; be self-motivated, agile, and proactive.
    • Interest and flexibility to work with global stakeholders across time zones.

    Compensation

    Our compensation philosophy reflects several principles. We strive to provide a competitive compensation package to attract and retain talent globally. We pay for performance, and reward sustainable results.

    Total pay for this position comprises base pay and a completion bonus at the end of the contract term. The anticipated base salary range for this role is between $75,000 and $100,000.
