About Us
The South Florida Academy of Air Conditioning is the largest HVAC technical school in the state of Florida by number of graduates, dedicated to preparing the next generation of HVAC professionals. We provide students with hands-on training, certifications, and job placement opportunities, helping them build successful careers in the air conditioning industry.
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Executive Director/General Manager to oversee the daily operations of the business, drive growth, and ensure excellence in student experience and outcomes.
Position Overview
The General Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and performance of the business. This includes managing staff and instructors, overseeing student enrollment and satisfaction, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, opening new locations, developing a hybrid online/on-site program, and driving strategic initiatives that promote growth and sustainability. The GM will report directly to ownership and play a critical role in advancing the company's mission. This position will own the P&L, and be responsible for the financial performance and operational performance of the entire business.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Administration
  • Oversee daily operations of the business, ensuring smooth coordination between admissions, instruction, student services, and compliance functions.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage facilities, equipment, and resources to ensure a safe and professional learning environment.
Team Leadership & Management
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff and instructors.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching as needed.
Student Success & Experience
  • Ensure exceptional student support services, from admissions to graduation and job placement.
  • Monitor student progress, satisfaction, and outcomes to maintain high retention and graduation rates.
  • Work closely with career services to strengthen employer partnerships and job placement opportunities.
Compliance & Accreditation
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accrediting body regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare for audits, renewals, and reporting requirements.
  • Stay current with changes in educational and vocational training standards.
Strategic Growth & Development
  • Drive enrollment growth through effective community outreach, marketing, and partnership development.
  • Identify new program opportunities aligned with industry needs.
  • Manage budgets, financial planning, and reporting to ensure sustainable growth.
Qualifications
  • **Most important qualification is a candidate from an elite unit who has leadership experience (MARSOC, Seals, etc.) - this is fundamentally what we're looking for. The rest below is just guidance.
  • An All-Star who finds a way to win, comfortable in unstructured environments, high integrity with intellectual and emotional intelligence, posessing clear and effective communication skills and relentless follow-through.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Military experience strongly preferred.
  • Former athletes strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HVAC or technical training programs preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, staff, and operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Extremely strong computer skills.
