- Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Inspects, diagnoses, and locates mechanical problems on vehicles,
- Repairs automobiles, light and heavy trucks, gasoline engines, and
- Installs and repairs batteries, lights, alternators, regulators, and
- Adjusts and repairs clutches and brakes and replaces shocks, struts,
- Operates engine test equipment, air wrenches, and hand tools,
- Performs repairs on electrical heating and cooling systems.
- Test drives automobiles, trucks, and equipment.
- Replaces broken or defective windows on cars and trucks.
- Makes road calls to repair problems.
- Utilizes proper safety precautions and procedures related to work
- Prepares vehicles for State inspection.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
- One (1) year of experience in automotive repair.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License OR valid driver's license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
- Experience working in a auto shop with repair experience
- ASE certification
- Welding experience
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used for tire replacements and repairs
- Knowledge of wheel balancing procedures.
- Ability to remove, repair and replace tires on automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment.

- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Shifts are subject to change based off departmental needs. May change to1:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
