    Overview

    This Raw Materials Developer will be responsible for bringing the capabilities of our new and existing material suppliers to life through thoughtful partnership, workflow optimization and expert textile knowledge, spanning everything from concept through development to bulk production. This role will ensure we are delivering the best quality materials to our customers, all while adhering to sustainable development in compliance with GOTS standards.

    Location/Reporting

    • Location: Boulder, Colorado
    • Reports to: Director of Product Development
    • Travel: Limited international travel may be required

    Responsibilities

    • Own seasonal development and sourcing of all raw materials for production; specifically fabric, trims, packaging collateral, and labeling
    • Collaborate with design, development and merchandising to develop new fabrics and trims that meet seasonal brand, consumer, and trend needs
    • Partner with suppliers to deliver high quality fabrics and provide technical support with design and product development teams
    • Ensure all raw materials are in compliance with GOTS specifications as part of our brand DNA
    • Execute technical validation for Raw Materials through commercialization approval process
    • Uphold fabric development calendar and adhere to seasonal calendar deadlines
    • Own independent and vendor-based fabric testing as it aligns to our brand standards and analyze material testing data to make informed decisions
    • Collaborate with Product Development to manage internal wash and wear testing on new fabrics prior to seasonal launch
    • Manage seasonal material WIP with accurate and up to date information including development, research, and testing.
    • Provide seasonal sample yardage forecasts to ensure on-time delivery of prototypes and salesman samples
    • Design and source product branding and labeling; provide opportunities for innovation and streamlining
    • Assist in packaging sourcing needs based on companies sustainable initiatives
    • Complete input details of digital PLM system and an organized materials library both in Boulder office and overseas with our third-party production management team
    • Assists in the development of presentation materials for meetings and other special projects
    • Other duties as required by the evolving nature of a fast-growth company

    About You

    • 5+ years of related professional experience in Fabric R&D/Materials Development
    • Clear understanding of product development and product launch process
    • Deep understanding of fabric and construction
    • Flexible, resilient and comfortable working in "grey areas" that are constantly changing
    • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Communicates efficiently & effectively, working collaboratively in an open environment with product and operations teams and cross-functional partners
    • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail and accuracy
    • Proactive thinking, initiative, and composure in a fast-paced environment
    • Interest in sustainability a must
    • Entrepreneurial sensibility, collaborative, and flexible working style

    Compensation

    • Estimated to be $75-$90k per year; bonus opportunity up to 10% of salary*, equity, Pact product allowance, and healthy living benefit
