Position: Director of Piano Studies/Assistant Professor of Music
Department: Fine Arts
Status: Full Time - 9 Month Position
Position Summary:
Candidates for this position can expect to teach applied piano for music majors and minors, teach piano pedagogy courses, perform for University Functions including recruiting events, and supervise the piano studies program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach applied piano for Piano Majors/Minors and potentially for music majors from other tracks.
Teach courses required in the Piano Pedagogy Track of the Bachelor of Music Degree
Direct, organize and manage the area of Piano Studies
Participate in music department recruiting activities.
Plan, host, participate and perform in Piano Studies recruiting activities.
Serve in a collaborative pianist role with other faculty, students and ensembles (preferred)
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Maintain relevant field knowledge of current/best practices and other scholarly/performance activity.
This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the mission of Campbell University
Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned.
Education/Experience:
PhD or DMA in Piano / Music
Successful teaching experience required.
Successful performance experience required.
Collaborative pianist experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to motivate and relate well with students in applied piano lessons and pedagogy classes.
Ability to recruit piano majors/minors effectively.
Ability to perform at university functions and recruiting events.
Ability to serve as a collaborative pianist (preferred)
Knowledge of current pedagogical practices in piano instruction
Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, administration, faculty, staff, students, and the public.
