    The Opportunity

    The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) will function as part of a team responsible for supporting the university's strategic vision for engagement and philanthropic activities. Each MGO will focus on relationship building by bringing philanthropic partners and community members to the table in true partnership to further Lesley's strategic framework and achieve desired outcomes. Each MGO will function as a visionary and expert tactician in the field of advancement, engagement, and philanthropy, setting a standard of excellence in customized engagement and relationship building with current and prospective contributors.

    Qualities and Capabilities

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
    • Significant professional experience cultivating, building, and stewarding relationships.
    • Demonstrated success in building strategies and plans that advance key relationships and build lifelong connections.
    • Demonstrated success as an effective communicator with the ability to anticipate, develop, and communicate long-term vision, values, and impact.
    • Experience advancing outstanding results that energize and inspire alumni, parents and friends.
    • Ability to translate and convey meaningful concepts to donors in an inspirational manner.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, manage, and achieve comprehensive short- and long-term goals.
    • Able to work independently, solve problems, take initiative, set priorities, and handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
    • Capacity to make decisions in ambiguous situations, exercise good judgment based on information and analysis in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment in an organized and professional manner.
    • Adept at maintaining confidences and protecting confidential information; models ethical values of the university.
    • Strong proficiency using all forms of technology for correspondence, advancement tools, presentations, special reports, spreadsheets, databases, forms, etc.
