    Summary:


    The main function of a specifications analyst is to utilize GPDS systems to create and maintain Understudy Pre-production and Production engineering parts list.

    A typical specifications analyst is responsible for interpreting complex designs from engineering and design documents to describe part usage requirements.


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Analyze and create complex engineering parts list for Prototype and Production usages.
    • Interpret project information and convert into GPDS production model/option or assembly usage statements.
    • Analyze build authorities and engineering work orders (EWO's) and convert experimental design requirements into build/test usage statements.
    • Communicate engineering data and maintain specification liaison with other departments or units.
    • Create, maintain, and revise Product Assembly Documents (PAD Analyst), Vehicle Description Summary, Bill of Material, Part Specifications (Specs Analyst).
    • Audit Part 1 emission components.
    • Review Engineering Project Plans (EPP's) and change authorization for new part definition.
    • Assign and load new and existing part definition into GPDS understudy parts list.
    • Assist DRE's, DLT's, Design Supervisors and Designers in researching part and usage data.
    • Coordinate and assist in the annual completion of new feature audits.
    • Construct complex logical language statements for Prototype of Production releases.
    • Participate in project teams aimed at improving process and quality.
    • Analyze and validate complex data to make recommendations for complex technical issues.
    • Maintain records on work performed, analyzes complex data collected, and reports results.
    • Recommend revisions to product or component design.
    • Coordinate and exchange findings and issues with internal and external teams.
    • Mentor others in use of tools and processes.
    • Create stop orders.

    Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of GPDS.
    • Working knowledge of engineering parts list concepts.
    • Ability to interpret and analyze engineering documents, drawing, blueprints, and designs.
    • Ability to plan, maintain schedules and organize work.
    • Ability to analyze, root cause and resolve customer reported issues.
    • Understanding of NAO corporate standards and logical language statements.
    • Understanding of EPIC/UPC/FNA concepts and processes.
    • Thorough understanding of mechanical concepts.
    • Proficient in software, computer, and equipment usage.
    • Experience with COE personal computer systems.
    • Strong understanding of drafting, computer systems, and engineering parts lists.
    • Training in mechanical drawing/blueprint reading.
    • High level of Truck Product knowledge.
    • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
    • Highly specialized knowledge of complex engineering concepts.
    • Thorough knowledge of engineering math.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Maintain strong leadership type skills.
    • Capable of teaching the departmental scope of responsibilities.

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related technical field.
    • 0-2 years of experience required.
