About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to develop and optimize CNC machine programs and processes, contributing to new product introductions and driving continuous quality improvements. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical support to machinists, ensuring efficient and accurate manufacturing operations. Your expertise in CAM software and machining strategies will be crucial in enhancing our production capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Craft CNC programs from engineering drawings and models to enable precise machining operations.
- Design and implement fixtures that streamline CNC setup and changeover processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize programs and resolve any process or quality-related challenges.
- Select appropriate tooling, considering speeds, feeds, and machining strategies to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive setup sheets and documentation to ensure consistent and repeatable processes.
- Execute first-article development parts to validate CNC programs and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Identify and implement improvements to CNC programs and machining processes to boost quality, efficiency, and throughput.
- Train machinists on new parts, processes, and programs, facilitating smooth transitions from development to production.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience, OR 3 years with a technical diploma.
- Proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Fusion 360).
- Experience programming multi-axis CNC machines.
- Strong understanding of tooling selection and machining strategies for various materials.
- Advanced blueprint reading skills, including GD&T.
Preferred Skills
- Experience leading CNC programming efforts through first-article production and capability runs.
- Ability to support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for machining issues.
- Familiarity with appropriate inspection methods and military specifications.
- Lean manufacturing and quality system experience (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, and AS9100D preferred).
