The Adult Protection Caseworker provides intake and ongoing social casework services for adults meeting criteria for an adult protection response Investigate all referrals regarding adult protection Respond to crisis situations when abuse neglect and/or exploitation are identified Collaborate with law enforcement Interview assess and evaluate the medical financial and social needs of referred adults to develop a case plan aimed at maximizing the client's independence Work with clients their family and other agencies to establish comprehensive case plans personal support plans Maintain thorough records for all cases on file Participate in APS screening decisions Provide information education to individuals or interested groups on relevant adult abuse issues guardianship conservatorships medical directives related topics Assess client's medical needs facilitate access to acceptance of medical psychiatric services Evaluate client's ability perform daily living functions such as bathing eating home management Work with clients promote self-care self-reliance wherever possible Appropriately handle emotionally charged people situations deal variety types human suffering This position requires consistent punctuality attendance The primary location of employment for this position is Delta County office exception duties performed off site required Attorney attend court hearings provide testimony investigations guardianships conservatorships Write submit court reports guardianships conservatorships Perform home study evaluations family Colorado Child Welfare Certification Requirements Bachelor degree one human behavioral science fields equivalent thirty semester forty-five quarter hours courses such as social work sociology psychology psychiatry gerontology nursing special education intervention techniques diagnostic measures therapeutic techniques guidance counseling criminal justice health field relevant APS program at-risk adults OR approved waiver State Colorado Master degree human behavioral science fields BSW accredited Council Social Work preferred Experience two years related professional social experience
