Job Summary:
Supermicro is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sr. Import Analyst to support the company's trade import compliance operations. This position will play a key role in ensuring adherence to U.S. trade regulations, maintaining proper documentation, and coordinating with internal departments and external partners. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in U.S. import compliance (customs regulations), excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to ensuring trade compliance across business functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage day-to-day U.S. import and trade compliance operations, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate import documentation to support compliant customs entries, Post Summary Corrections (PSCs), and audit readiness.
- Serve as a key compliance partner to cross-functional teams including Sales, Shipping, Engineering, and Procurement to ensure trade requirements are understood and met throughout the supply chain.
- Coordinate closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to facilitate compliant and timely importations, including resolution of entry discrepancies and compliance inquiries.
- Maintain and oversee product classifications, denied party screening records, and transaction documentation in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recordkeeping requirements.
- Classify products under HTSUS, Schedule B, and ECCN, including identification and application of applicable Section 232 and Section 301 duties and exclusions.
- Manage and support compliance activities related to Section 232 and Section 301 trade remedies, including duty applicability analysis, derivative calculations (as applicable), documentation support, and reconciliation of duties paid.
- Prepare, submit, and track Post Summary Corrections (PSCs) to correct entry data, including classification, value, country of origin, and trade remedy declarations.
- Respond to and coordinate CBP inquiries, including Form 28 Requests for Information and Form 29 Notices of Action; gather supporting documentation, draft responses, and support timely resolution.
- Support duty drawback and Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) related activities, including coordination with internal stakeholders and external providers, data gathering, and documentation support, as applicable.
- Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of trade compliance policies, procedures, work instructions, and training programs, including guidance related to trade remedies, duty mitigation programs, and CBP enforcement actions.
- Participate in internal audits, self-assessments, and compliance reviews; identify compliance gaps, recommend corrective actions, and assist with remediation efforts.
- Monitor and interpret changes in U.S. trade laws and regulations, including trade remedies, duty mitigation programs, and enforcement priorities, and assess potential impacts on business operations.
- Support compliance-related data entry, reporting, system maintenance, and trade compliance technology tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening compliance controls, improving operational efficiency, and mitigating trade compliance risk.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the overall Trade Compliance function.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in U.S. import and trade compliance or a closely related field, with demonstrated experience supporting CBP inquiries and trade remedy programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. import laws and regulations, including customs entry processes, recordkeeping, valuation, and trade remedy programs (Section 232 and Section 301).
- Hands-on experience preparing and submitting Post Summary Corrections (PSCs) and responding to CBP Form 28 and Form 29 actions.
- Demonstrated experience with product classification under HTSUS, Schedule B, and ECCN, including application of additional duties and exclusions.
- Knowledge of duty drawback and Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) programs, including eligibility concepts, compliance requirements, and documentation flows (preferred).
- Familiarity with domestic and international logistics and supply chain operations.
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, well-supported responses to CBP and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle preferred.
Salary Range
$100,000 - $155,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
