Overview

The Tax Accounting Services practice in Morristown, NJ is seeking to further expand its tax services practice with the addition of a Director of Tax, specializing in ASC 740 accounting for income taxes.

While this practice primarily focuses on tax provision consulting and compliance services, the Tax Accounting Services professionals may also work in other federal technical areas related to corporate tax compliance and M&A transactions.

In many cases, our Tax Accounting professionals manage day-to-day client service relationships, and as such, serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that help to improve compliance with taxing entities, while maintaining each client's overall tax risk profile.

Responsibilities

Manage tax provision preparation for quarterly and annual reporting for both SEC registrants and private entities;
Advise clients on tax accounting aspects of complex transactions, including IPO readiness, acquisitions, corporate restructurings, restatements, and post-bankruptcy fresh start accounting;
Lead special projects in specific technical areas such as tax basis balance sheets, valuation allowance, accounting for uncertain tax positions, indefinitely reinvested earnings assertion, outside basis differences, and share-based payments;
Review clients' tax accounting processes and internal controls for assessment of risk and remediation actions;
Manage U.S. tax compliance projects for multinational companies;
Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses;
Conduct day-to-day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work product;
Supervise, develop, mentor, and motivate our Associates and Senior Associate team by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, counseling, and fostering our team-based atmosphere;
Assist with business development, including add-on business.

Qualifications

Requisite experience for Director, Tax Accounting Services should include 5+ years experience in tax provisions and compliance
This position will have significant executive experience therefore, proven, excellent communication skills with management and clients are required
Excellent research and writing skills
Experience with all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel), GoSystems, and research software
Bachelor or Masters in Accounting or Taxation required
Licensed CPA
Experience as a Tax Manager in a public accounting firm
