Description

I want you to know that you are responsible for assigned project designs, coordination, client communications, and associated construction administration.

You will also supervise team members assigned to projects, ensure staff utilization, oversee the work done by the designated staff, manage the project budget, and manage the project schedule.

Job Responsibilities:
Application of Knowledge of Building Systems (Conceptual Design)

Has a complete working knowledge of code including but not limited to NFPA 70, 72, 101, 110, 780; UL 96A; and Building CodesWorking knowledge of building requirements for special occupanciesWorks with building/facility owners to ensure the appropriate systems/products are utilized in their facilityComplete understanding of the design of power distribution, medium voltage, and belowComplete knowledge of the application of emergency systems, legally required systems, and optional standby systemsFully coordinates the connections of all power utilization component connectionsGrounding design, proper applicationLightning protection design, proper application, system typesLighting design, system types, and understanding of the following concepts:
Pros and cons of system applicationsApplication of color temperaturesLighting rules such as spacing to mounting height ratio, manual point-to-point calculations, and the impact of horizontal and vertical foot-candlesLife safety requirements (egress and exit marking)

Applications of various control systemsFire alarm designSmoke detection designSmoke detection systemsSmoke detections applicationsOther system interconnectionsDevice layoutTelecommunications designSystems typesUnderstanding of the EIA/TIA standardsSecurityCard access system design, system types, functional proceduresCCTV system design, system typesIntrusion detection systems design, system types, and applicationsPaging and intercommunication systems design, system types, and applicationsDesignPerforms analysis of proposed and potential systems to present Value Engineering options to the facility owner for their consideration for the incorporation into the projectDocumentation of calculations, reflecting code compliance of the following:

Lighting calculationsPower load calculationsShort circuit and voltage drop calculationsCoordination studiesEnsures that there are complete and accurate construction documentsEnsures that there are complete and accurate specificationsUnderstands and can manage design softwareConstruction SupportProblem-solving for field oversights, including RFI and photograph reviewShop drawing/Submittal reviewField inspections and reportsProject ManagementSupervision of the staff assigned to the projectsEnsuring staff utilizationOverseeing the work performed by the assigned staffPrepares design estimates for assigned projectsProfitability/Planning/SchedulingDesign projects within the provided design budget and negotiate additional design fees when the scope is expandedProvides direction for what is to be included in design package issuesWorks with design/engineering managers to ensure the project schedule is met and complete documents are provided for each submission.

Professional DevelopmentMaintains required licensing CEU by proactively seeking training to expand knowledgeLeadershipManages assigned staff on the projectsProvides coaching/mentoring of assigned staff, promoting individual growthEngages the entire electrical team, working with all team members.

Flexible and willing to quickly move between projects as needed to assist in meeting overall project schedulesEducation/Experience:
Accredited electrical engineering degree.

Typical minimum of 8 years after PE licensureSpecific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:
Licensed Professional EngineerRevit experience preferredMust have excellent oral and written communication skillsMust be able to excel in a fast-paced team environment
