    PRIMARY PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:


    The Clinical Coordinator in the Physician Assistant Studies program plays a central role in integrating the clinical experiences of PAS students and the program's clinical curriculum requirements.

    The individual will be responsible for collaborating with the Director of Clinical Education and PAS students in the assignment of clinical rotations, overseeing the EXXAT database, developing new and maintaining existing clinical affiliation agreements and working with students to meet their clinical curriculum needs.

    They will also help to coordinate the continuous assessment of new and existing clinical sites of the program and assist the DCE in return to campus days.

    This is an in-office position.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Clinical Coordinator has the following responsibilities:
    In coordination with the DCE, schedule student clinical assignments with available placement
    In coordination with the DCE, arrange clinical placements for physician assistant students in a variety of settings (for example, hospitals, non-profit agencies, community health settings, schools, day care, long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, home care, and corporations) throughout Chicago and surrounding area
    Works with the DCE in planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the PAS clinical curriculum
    Initiate and maintain clinical contracts through relationship-building, facilitating agency orientations and troubleshooting clinical placement conflicts
    Obtain signatures for renewing and/or terminating contracts between DU and clinical sites, based on alignment with clinical objectives
    Collaborates with students to obtain specific student clinical health requirements to accurately plan, develop and manage multiple clinical placements per student including forecasting clinical placement needs based on student data in collaboration with DCE

    Ensures all student documents and orientation paperwork are completed in a timely manner for rotations
    Submit information for payment for clinical rotations monthly
    Initiate, collects, and maintain all the appropriate health-related records (CPR, criminal background results, drug screen results, physical exam, and immunizations) of the PA students and preceptors to stay in compliance with all clinical affiliate's requirements
    Assists in the management and evaluation of data of the EXXAT database as related to:
    students' clinical performance throughout the program
    course evaluations
    graduate employment status and practice characteristics of graduates
    facilities, faculty, and resources
    Assists with onboarding students in EXXAT to allow for:
    scheduling of clinical placements
    maintaining records of clinical sites and preceptors
    coordination of electronic evaluations
    Communicates with students and DCE regarding changes or updates to clinical placements
    Have a strong commitment to the development and success of the PAS Program at DU
    Assist with return to campus activity and planning
    Act as a liaison and work with DCE and Program Director to match the needs of students and clinical instructors to agencies with appropriate learning experiences
    Act as a liaison between the PAS Program and BCHS Simulation Education Center
    Attends all PA clinical year team meetings and as needed other departmental meetings
    Performs other duties as requested delegated or assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    The following qualifications are required unless otherwise stated.

    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and manage time to meet established deadlines
    Strong problem-solving capabilities and interpersonal skills
    Well organized, detail oriented, flexible, and self-starter

    Education and Experience:

    Required :
    Associate degree or higher required.
    2 or more years of experience in managing administrative projects

    Preferred:
    Bachelor's degree or higher.
