    Position Summary
    Provides backup driving support services to the truck fleet of Overland Ready Mixed, based on business needs, by driving a tractor trailer / concrete truck or tanker truck to transport cement or product to company ready mix plants by performing the following duties

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

    Daily perform a pre and post-trip safety check on the truck and equipment to assure they are in a safe working condition. Document any maintenance that may be required. Maintain mileage reports and accurate logbooks to meet DOT criteria.

    Transport and maintain condition of the cement on assigned vehicle. May transport product to an affiliated company and/or pick up product from an affiliated company.

    For delivery of product must verify the load matches the load ticket.

    Follow guidelines and instructions by dispatch personnel.

    May drive a Transit Mixer for Overland Ready Mix. Drives truck to designated job site for unloading. Assembles concrete chute and attaches chute to the back of the truck. Controls appropriate levers on truck to discharge concrete according to specifications from the contactor into a wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into area to be poured with concrete.

    When the workload is light, assist other areasrepair/maintenance in the plant area, yard clean-up or drive other equipment for affiliated companiesif qualified.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements and Education
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • Previous commercial truck driving experience is preferred.
    • Must be 21 years of age.
    • Must have a valid Commercial Drivers License (Class A CDL minimum).
    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets and memos.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
    • Must learn quantities per cubes of block and warehouse materials.
    • Previous commercial truck driving experience is preferred.
    • Must meet insurability for driving requirements of the company.
    • Must meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical requirements and carry a physical exam card, which is to be kept current according to DOT guidelines.
    • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season.
    • Must be able to work early/late or irregular hours.
    • Previous knowledge of construction and construction products is helpful.
    • Must understand and maintain the internal and external customer service responsibilities of the position.

    Working Conditions
    The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

    The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

    The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds to shoulder height.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Must wear protective devices as required by the company safety policy in the performance of the job.

    The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (may be extreme hot and cold).

    The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts, minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily and fumes or other possible airborne particles.

    The employee is occasionally exposed to high and precarious places which require the agility to maintain balance on a tractor and trailer while loading/unloading. May be vibration from the equipment.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud.

    Must be flexible regarding the work assigned due to temporary job assignments in Ready Mixed, Block Plant or the Warehouse.

    This is a non-smoking/vaping campus and work environment, which includes the trucks.
