UT Southwestern is looking to hire a Simulation Systems Architect in their IR-AAIR Academic Info Sys Admin department.The Simulation Center Systems Architect (SCSA) is an essential role for Systems and Operations teams of the UT Southwestern Simulation Center.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President Academic Information Systems and embedded in the Simulation Center under supervision by the Simulation Center (SIM Center) Director of Operations; the SIM Center Systems Architect will provide support for all audio-visual technology; SimCapture system, control and recording systems; simulators; database management; and related instructional technology within the SIM Center.
The SIM Center Systems Architect is responsible for the maintenance (trouble shooting, testing, repair, and replacement) and operation of all audiovisual, simulator, and other IR equipment (and related devices and peripherals).

Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer field (or simulation, systems, or other types of engineering.)
Five (5) year's experience in field directly related to operating systems and systems administration, including experience working with and maintaining multiple server hosts in a combined environment.
Certification in at least on relevant operating system or associate technology
Preferred:
Master's degree in Technology or health related field or equivalent in education and experience.
One to two years' experience working in health care simulation or similar academic environment.
Previous experience with simulation audio visual software.
Experience with being a liaison from a host of stakeholders and respective simulation vendors.
Preferred to be a Certified Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) by the Society of Simulation of Healthcare.
Job Duties:
Works with current, commercial grade server hardware both for physical and hosted environments.
Works to identify, architect, develop, and propose innovative and creative technology systems or solutions that enhance or increase the efficiency of the services provided by the Simulation Center to the campus community.
Perform network troubleshooting at the server host level, using associated tools, i.e. network traces.
Works with server hosts running in a combined directory services environment and handles associated have/folder/file configurations and rights assignments.
Works with operating system security components, both with identifying potential vulnerabilities and remediating said vulnerabilities where applicable.
Develop seamless and integrated monitoring and support tools
Analyzes and remediates problems involving simulation hardware, operating systems, database systems, applications or other related simulation technologies associated with the server host system.
Works under the direction of the Simulation Center Director of Operations with system users and engineers to make recommendations, receive feedback and test additions and/or enhancements to the simulation environment so that the systems and any associated/host applications or virtual environments are updated, tested, developed, and implemented as required.
Function as team lead and Tier III engineer for the technology infrastructure and systems teams that support platforms that provide technology services to the Simulation Center.
These systems may include identity and access management, authentication services, distributed computing, operating system support, network attached storage, and other enterprise technologies.
Perform architectural reviews for new system implementations and integrations.Research and evaluate new technologies that transform and improve the technical environment
Proposes policies for server hardware, operating system and associated storage layout and design; works in tandem with scientific, academic, simulation team, and technical community using knowledge of future trends to produce a combined systems solution that is based on user, learner, and system engineer needs.
Responsible for consulting with end users, application analysts, learners, and vendors as a component of leading assigned project effort design and development and under the direction of the Simulation Center Director of Operations and Assistant Vice President Academic Information Systems.
