    Description

    About Us:

We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.

We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide.

Notion is an in person company, and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that employees spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day).

    About the Role:

Notion is a uniquely international company, with 80% of our users residing outside of the U.S. We're looking for a seasoned leader to lead our language localization efforts and champion a user experience that scales globally. This leader will be responsible for the Notion experience in all non-English languages, and the accompanying strategy to best support our growing global base of customers. You'll partner closely with our Head of Growth on international business expansion, as well as with our product, marketing, and engineering teams to deliver new products to customers worldwide. This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategy for an established program, and lead Notion into its next phase of international adoption.

    What You'll Achieve:

    • You'll develop and deploy a strategy for globalization of Notion's product.
    • You'll coach and develop a team of leaders who deliver a top-notch Notion experience in local languages. You'll create a healthy environment in your team that embodies Notion's values.
    • You'll mature and up-level our localization processes to industry best practices.
    • You'll manage and deploy a budget to support a team of language experts, contractors, vendors, and translation tools to deliver on your vision. You'll recruit and develop new expert talent around the world.
    • You'll collaborate closely with cross-departmental leadership to set the direction of your team and facilitate globalization of Notion.
    • You'll own execution in your team to develop a steady cadence of delivering value to Notion users.
    • You'll be responsible for maintaining a high-quality bar for everything your team ships, and own execution across international efforts.

    Skills You'll Need to Bring:

    • 8+ years leading localization efforts, preferably at similar businesses (ex: SaaS).
    • Deep expertise in vendor and contractor management for product localization, and experience managing the corresponding budget.
    • Experience recruiting, building, and inspiring a high functioning team that operates globally.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; business English fluency is required
    • Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration with internal and external partners across time zones
    • Data-driven mindset and comfortable using data to define goals, make decisions, and measure impact

    Nice to Haves:

    • Notion user: you're comfortable and familiar with Notion's value to businesses
    • Deep knowledge of internationalization and localization standards and localization testing best practices
    • Familiar with common translation software (Smartling, Lokalise)

We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If you're excited about a role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every bullet point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. If you're a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.
