Job summary
The Patient Care Companion provides general patient care duties as directed by the registered nurse. They ensure a secure and safe environment by maintaining a continued awareness of safety hazards and observing the patient.Their responsibilities include following established policies and procedures for precautions, accompanying assigned patients at all times, providing am or pm care to include making occupied or unoccupied bed, bed bath, oral and denture care, shave back rub, and skin care.
They assist patients with ordered activity such as ambulation getting up to chair and back to bed positioning etc., assist with toileting needs of the patient including care of incontinent patients proper diaper usage demonstrates awareness of patents high risk skin breakdown.
The Patient Care Companion ensures special patent supplies appliances are provided maintained such as TED hose sequential compression devices K-pads cooling mattresses etc..
- Follows established policies procedures precautions i.e suicide seizure falls elopement restraining provides restraint alternatives when appropriate diversional activities.
