- Carries out patient care according to hospital policies and procedures functioning within the limitations of the Nurse Practice Act.
- Establishes treatment priorities based on the medical and nursing diagnosis.
- Recognizes patient problems/complications and intervenes appropriately.
- Accountable for the safe administration of medications.
- Assess patient need for discharge planning on admission.
- Participates in the development of/and adherence to written nursing care standards for the unit.
- Plans and coordinates work flow to ensure completion of assigned duties in a timely manner.
- Assesses patient/family physical and psychosocial needs.
- Identifies need for patient/family teaching.
- Actively involves patient/family in plan of care when appropriate.
- Reports significant changes in patient condition/response to treatment to supervisor/physician promptly.
- Participates in hand off shift report.
- Must be currently licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Colorado.
- One year relevant experience preferred.
- Specialty certification for specialty areas preferred.
- BLS required upon hire.
- ACLS & PALS required upon hire or within 6 months.
- New Graduates are required to have ACLS within 1 year and PALS within 18 months of RN Licensure date.

Under the direction of the Medical/Surgical Manager, delivers quality nursing care to patients from ages newborn to geriatric. Assures that patient/family needs are met. Provides open communication within the unit, patients, families, physicians and other units/departments. Demonstrates knowledge of patient/staff safety measures. Builds and maintains professional relationships.
