    Electrical Power Systems Engineer

    Job Title:
    Electrical Power Systems Engineer
Infinium is an electrofuels provider on a mission to decarbonize the world.

Electrofuels are a new class of synthetic fuels made using renewable power and waste carbon dioxide, not petroleum or resources needed to produce food.

Infinium electrofuels can be dropped into existing trucks, planes, and ships, significantly reducing harmful carbon dioxide emissions compared to fossil-based fuels.

In addition to helping the transport industry meet carbon reduction goals, Infinium electrofuels are a lower carbon alternative for chemical processing, including plastics production.

YOU HAVE:· An accredited degree in Electrical Engineering or the ability to demonstrate equivalence through experience and other education to successfully perform the role. Professional Engineering certification is a plus.· Ten plus years of relevant experience in complex major capital projects involving bespoke design, technical designs in processing facilities and/or industrial substations.· At least five years plus in design or project work for high voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems in a large complex project. Preference for experience in FEED, EPC, construction, start-up, and operations.· Demonstrated experience in FEED/EPC capital projects including power design studies such as interconnects, system balancing, harmonics, arc-flash, load flow, fault current analysis, and grounding grid.· Knowledge and experience with SKM or ETAP, or equivalent experience in supervising engineers or contractors in using SKM or ETAP to conduct electrical analysis. Being able to do your own CAD drawings is a plus.· Experience in both specifying and designing high voltage, medium voltage equipment and systems (transformers, substations, switching, relays, switchgear, MCC, cable schedules and calculations, etc).· Knowledge and familiarity with electrical codes (NEC, IEEE, especially IEEE 519).· Knowledge and familiarity with field installation, checkout, and commissioning/operational checks· Demonstrated experience of being able to work in large complex teams, and managing or leading suppliers, vendors, and engineering contractors.· Experience in both owner's organization and EPC organization is a plus.· Experience with specific electrical equipment frequently used in process industrial facilities such as cable systems, transformers, cable tray, specific switch gear, area classification, rectifiers, variable frequency drives, large 3-phase 4160V rotating equipment motors, GI breakers, and electric heaters are a plus.· Having experience with revamps or brownfield projects would be helpful in being successful in this role.· Have a broad experience to integrate the various parts of a large electrical systems project will be helpful in being successful in this role.· A keen interest in learning, growing, and implementing your learning into all aspects of your work· The ability to work independently, but also communicate and involve others as needed.· This role is less about specific degrees or years of experience and more about direct relevant experiences. This position does not post a percentage of travel, because the amount of travel varies by the individual, the status of the project, and the current issues and risks of the project that the engineer needs to manage. You must be able to safely operate onsite in an industrial facility.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate is a technical authority in power distribution systems with demonstrated experience in both the contractor's side and on the owner's side or as an owner's engineer. They would have experience interfacing with electrical utilities to connect large industrial loads greater than 50MW from the development and feasibility stages of a project all the way through start-up and operation. They would have had jobs where they have put together purchase specifications, but also where they have supervised or done specific modelling and analysis on the electrical distribution system. They would have had positions or specific projects where they have gained an overall understanding and knowledge of common cost-effective means and industry standards in distributing power ranging from 138kV down to 480V systems.

The ideal candidate has the intellectual curiosity to want to optimize the power distribution system to meet project objectives at the lowest cost, while also having the direct knowledge to inform decisions and be able to communicate to the VP and CEO of the company the drivers behind those decisions.

Having positions or previous experiences in working up multiple options for different configurations of the overall power systems, with different costs and reliabilities, while also being able to develop and review purchase specifications for equipment within the system would be ideal.

Should that person also have some experience in an operating plant environment, which would help them be more successful as they could apply those experiences in this work to create stronger projects.

The ideal candidate is humbly confident in their knowledge and work, able to speak up and advocate for specific decisions in the project, while being flexible enough to internalize the needs and feedback from the project team in a gracious manner.

The ideal candidate is willing to roll up their sleeves and support the team versus delegating everything to a contractor.

The ideal candidate asks where they can help and finds alternatives when solving difficult problems supporting the team.

They have experiences where they can show they have worked on larger multi-step projects requiring multiple individuals in a coordinated manner, but independent enough to not required day-to-day direction in their work.
