Schedule:
12-hour shifts with every other weekend; 1:4-5 patient ratio; 28-bed unit with average daily census of 27
Highlights:
Specialized neuroscience unit focused on acute embolic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, and neurosurgical patients including shunt revisions, tumor removals, and craniotomies
Comprehensive Stroke Center designated facility following American Heart Association guidelines
1 year of Epic EMR experience required; 24 hours of orientation provided upon start
Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and radiology
First-time travelers welcome; local candidates considered based on distance requirements
Pre-assignment modules are billable (up to 16 hours) and completed prior to start date
Requirements:
Active South Carolina or multistate compact RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
Current certifications:
ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
Minimum 1 year of recent neuroscience or telemetry nursing experience
Proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs, accessing ports, managing PICC and central lines, and peripheral IV care
Experience with blood product administration, heparin and PCA protocols, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Competency in respiratory support (HFNC, nasal cannula, tracheostomy care), feeding tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, surgical drain management, and isolation precautions
Clinical background with CVA, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and pre/post neurosurgical care
1 year minimum experience with Epic EMR system
Willingness to float to other qualified units or campuses as needed based on census
