    Role

    We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our team, mainly to be on-site in Atoka. The Lab Assistant will play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations, including documentation management, experimental design and execution, equipment maintenance, and product development projects. This position requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with the design and execution of experiments, including preparing materials and setting up equipment.
    • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
    • Conduct quality control checks on materials products, and processes to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
    • Prepare experimental reports summarizing findings and conclusions for review by Senior Technician/Chemist.
    • Manage laboratory documentation, including protocols, procedures, and records, to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal requirements.
    • Organize and maintain electronic and physical laboratory records for easy retrieval and reference.
    • Assist in the preparation of regulatory submissions and compliance documentation as needed.
    • Perform general maintenance tasks on laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the laboratory, including proper storage of materials and disposal of waste.
    • Assist in inventory management, including ordering and stocking laboratory supplies and reagents.
    • Collaborate with Senior Technician/Chemist in the execution of new product development projects, including hands-on laboratory experiments and testing.
    • Validate the performance of new products by developing and implementing test methods, conducting physical property tests, and analyzing results.
    • Lead the transfer of developed products from the laboratory to production by planning scale-up experiments, drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs), and providing technical expertise.
    • Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations at all times.
    • Participate in laboratory safety training sessions and adhere to best practices for handling hazardous materials and waste.
    • Report any accidents, incidents, or safety concerns to laboratory management promptly.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials engineering or relevant field.).
    • Previous working experience in a chemical laboratory setting.
    • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in data entry and record-keeping.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of laboratory equipment operation and maintenance.
    • Proficient in handling a variety of chemicals, demonstrating knowledge of their properties, handling procedures, and potential hazards.
    • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), capable of interpreting SDS information to ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
    • Understanding of chemical reactions and associated safety protocols, including proper ventilation, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and emergency response procedures.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to laboratory operations.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
