- Under direct supervision and dependent on position/major, the incumbent may support/assist in:
- Design and analysis as it applies to their area of study.
- Hardware prototype, test fixture, and tooling development.
- Software development of front end, embedded hardware, and special test equipment.
- The analysis and interpretation of engineering data on new products, as well as modifications affecting standard products to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Development and/or updates to build and test procedures.
- Engineering maintenance and manufacturing floor support of full rate production hardware
- Development and presentation of technical information.
- Communication with other engineering personnel to ensure project completion.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering at a junior or senior scholastic level.
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Mostly office-based but may include standing and walking on the production floor or development lab.
- May be required to operate some production machinery and lab equipment.
- Occasionally may have to lift and/or transport items weighing between 10 and 40 pounds.
- Predominately office environment with occasional exposure to the production floor and development lab.
- Employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts and may be required to put on precautionary, protective wear such as safety glasses.
- Some limited travel may be required.
