All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months. All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Biochemistry or Molecular Biology Laboratory Intern to join our team. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to apply core biochemistry principles in a fast-paced laboratory environment, supporting high-throughput screening and protein purification efforts. The successful candidate will work under minimal supervision, contributing to data collection, analysis, and interpretation while strictly adhering to safety protocols.
Pay Rate: $20/hr
Key Responsibilities:
- Affinity chromatography column packing and elution.
- Support high throughput screenings efforts.
- Apply analytical and biochemistry principles.
- Maintain accurate experimental records.
- Conduct laboratory experiments and assays under minimal supervision.
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Follow all EHS and laboratory safety protocols, proactively identifying chemical and physical hazards.
Program Requirements:
- Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the internship.
- Junior or Senior preferred but will consider sophomore applicants with extensive experience. Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to quickly learn new procedures and techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness and ability to spend 75% of the workday in a laboratory environment and 25% at a desk.
Experience Qualifications:
- Must have taken laboratory courses covering affinity column chromatography and SDS-PAGE preparation and analysis.
- Buffer preparation knowledge.
- Protein purification knowledge preferred.
