Summary:

Join Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) and become a key player in ensuring the reliability of our power distribution infrastructure As a Welder Specialist, you'll take on the critical responsibility of welding, fabricating, and repairing substation bus and equipment.

Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the proper functionality of our Substation Department, ultimately contributing to the reliability of OPPD's services for our valued customer-owners.

Responsibilities:

• Perform fabrication, installation, maintenance, inspection and/or repair of bus, transformers, breakers, switches, and related substation, transmission and distribution equipment.
• Perform duties such as facilities maintenance and repair.
• Operate cranes and heavy equipment and operate all tools and equipment pertaining to this department, ensuring proper care of tools, cleanliness of work area and economical use of supplies.

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate degree or certification in Welding Technology.
• Four (4) years¿ experience in the welding & fabrication industry.
• High degree of mechanical ability and fabrication skills
• The ability to read and work from blueprints and/or drawings.
• The ability to acquire a Commercial Drivers License within 6 months.
• The ability to weld aluminum bus from elevated platforms.
• The abilities to arc weld, MIG/TIG weld, and oxyacetylene weld.
• Team oriented personality with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired:

• Commercial Driver¿s License.
• Crane operator certification
