- Advise Waltham Group program coordinators from Houses 1 and 3 (Health & Human Services and Housing/Advocacy/Environment) on communication, organization/program planning, training, reflection, and assessment practices. Assist the Program Specialist in advising Waltham Group E-Board members, working closely with House Representatives, Community and Social Justice Coordinator and Vice President. Meet regularly, support planning, training, and reflection, and serve as a resource to student leaders. - Serve as a resource to Waltham Group leaders and volunteers looking to engage in advocacy, activism, anti-racism and/or civic engagement work across all Waltham Group programs. Take the lead on assessment and impact initiatives for the Waltham Group and support student leaders with planning, attending, and tracking Community Action Programs (CAPs) within Waltham Group to offer hands-on feedback. Meet regularly with students to help them plan these events.
- Support programs with the implementation of Campus Groups (tracking service hours, creating an event, training, approving service hours). Track data for training and reflection events, and offer hands-on feedback to student coordinators on strategies to ensure success and continuous improvement. Regularly help update/ and or create Waltham Group resources and manuals in the respective WG Google Drives.
- Collaborate and communicate with the Department of Student Engagement (DSE) staff, other Waltham Group Graduate Assistant and Graduate Assistant for Club Support as necessary. Attend Department of Student Engagement staff meetings and support departmental efforts as needed, in consultation with supervisor

- Required to be pursuing a graduate degree in policy, higher education, counseling/social work, psychology or related field
- Experience and/or interest in advocacy and service programs
- Opportunity to continue in the second year, dependent on successful performance in the first year
- Interest and/or experience planning events, conducting outreach and advising students
- Interest and/or experience leading trainings and/or exposure to facilitating and presenting
- Ability to problem solve, take initiative and work collaboratively with staff and students

Description
The Waltham Group Graduate Assistant for Training and Reflection will co-advise the Waltham Group, working with the Program Specialist and a second Graduate Assistant to support 20 community engagement programs, 95 student coordinators, and E-board members.
This position will directly advise the programs in Health/Human Services and Housing/Environment/Advocacy.This includes the Blood Drive, Brandeis Buddies, Companions to Elders, Advocates for Health, Community Connections, Habitat for Humanity, Hunger and Homelessness, Service without Borders, and Symbiosis.
This position will also lead advocacy and assessment work within Waltham Group.This is a part time, temporary position, 15 hours a week during the work periods.
Dates:
Fall 2024- Spring 2025: August 12th - December 13th (and)
January - May 5 (with no work on academic breaks:
Thanksgiving break, Winter break, and Spring break weeks Feb. 17-21, and April 14-18)
