    GEICO Technology Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Ops Tech Engineer (Ops TE) to join our GEICO Reliability & Availability Engineering team. The Ops TE with his/her hybrid software and systems engineering knowledge will have the goal to develop novel solutions to challenges that are constantly evolving to improve existing systems and processes. The Ops TE should also have the innate passion to ensure that the availability and reliability of our critical production services and applications meet the requirements of internal and external business users.

    Objectives of this Role

    • Work very closely with our Technology Operations Center (TOC) to provide enterprise level operations (including oncall) and engineering support for our critical services and platforms

    • Bring new ideas on the table, demonstrates unique and informed viewpoints to develop real-world solutions to solve our problems

    • Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications to make them more reliable

    • Improve availability, resiliency, performance, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions

    Responsibilities

    • Build tools and design processes that help improve enterprise level observability and system resiliency of our critical services and platforms

    • Participate in Correction of Error (COE) process to help provide root cause analysis (RCA) of prior incidents

    • Analyze metrics from historical COEs to assist in root cause correlations and to identify repeat offenders

    • Assist in GameDay scenario identification, planning and execution

    • Triage site availability Incidents and proactively work towards reducing MTTR for impactful incidents

    • Be responsible for automating tasks that directly impact site reliability

    • Monitor Capacity & Utilization and work closely with the infrastructure team to orchestrate scale-up/down of Backend Services

    • Partner with various stakeholders including TOC, 360 Views, Observability and Service owners to help build monitoring dashboards and other service level health indicators

    • On call requirement on a rotational basis for production support 24x7

    • Create Ops TE knowledge articles and review them on periodic intervals

    • Manage and monitor Microsoft .Net applications developed in-house hosted on-premises as well as in Azure

    • Troubleshoot and identify solutions for Performance/Connectivity issues, Application functionality disruptions, Network Load Balancing, on our supported applications

    • Work together with developers and business stakeholders alike

    Requirements:

    • 6+ years of professional software development experience

    • 5+ years of experience in MS Windows environments

    • 4+ years of experience with architecture and design

    • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud services (certification is preferred)

    • 3+ years of experience in open-source frameworks

    • 2+ years of experience in Performance Engineering/Testing, performance analysis, and application/infrastructure architecture

    • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering is a major plus

    • Knowledge of micro-services-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs

    • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)

    • PowerShell or other scripting skills

    • Understanding of security protocols & products e.g., Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth

    • Working knowledge of networking and/or Azure Network (Subscription, Security zoning, etc.) is a major plus

    • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks

    • Proven expertise with the GameDay and Chaos tooling suite (Chaos monkey, Gremlin, Azure Chaos studio, Mangle, Chaos Blade etc.)

    • Experience with observability tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, App Insight, MoogSoft, Quantum Metrics etc. (Strong experience in Dynatrace APM and Synthetic is a plus)

    • Experience analyzing process dumps, network tracing and packet analysis is a major plus

    • Experience with Wiki (Atlassian), CI/CD Pipeline, Azure Just-in-Time (JIT), VM Access, Azure Cloud Services (Classic), Azure Active Directory, Azure Automation Accounts

    • Experience working with containerization technologies and platforms e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AKS etc.

    • Experience working with various DBMS, particularly SQL and Cosmos

    • Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows Server platforms (Windows OS, IIS, BizTalk, and .Net applications) on-premises as well as in cloud.

    • Experience with Virtualization (VMware vSphere and System Center Virtual Machine Manager) and containerization (Docker for Windows).

    • Proven Networking knowledge (TCP/IP and OSI stacks) and familiarity with connectivity concepts implements on Windows Servers, Load balancers, Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and subnetting.

    • Experience working in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe)

    • Strong communication & leadership skills

    • Grade will be decided based on qualification and experience.

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
