    Position Introduction/Key Duties

    Cimarron is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) FPGA Design Engineer to support an Electro-Optical (EO) / Infra-Red (IR) Mission Systems team in Huntington Beach, CA. The selected candidate for this position will help lead the development of next-generation electronics for optical sensing systems for airborne and space platforms.

    Key Duties:

    • Develop and optimize firmware for FPGAs, running advanced algorithms in firmware for real-time data processing.
    • Design and optimize processing and firmware architectures.
    • Write and optimize HDL code for FPGAs.
    • Provide technical leadership of FPGA development teams, including task assignment, schedule inputs, and status reporting.
    • Provide technical oversight and guidance, including mentoring and coaching team members.
    • Technical reports and presentations to customers and senior leadership.
    • Support multiple programs and multiple departments/business units.
    Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education

    Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
    • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
    • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance.
    • 10 or more years of experience developing firmware for embedded applications (FPGA, etc.).
    • Experience with integrating and testing firmware/FPGA design with hardware and software.
    • Experience with developing and executing tests to validate system functionality against specifications.
    • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.
    Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
    • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
    • 15 or more years of experience developing firmware for embedded applications (FPGA, etc.).
    • 5 or more years of experience leading engineering teams.
    • Experience supporting space-based sensor or weapons systems.
    • Experience with the design and implementation of real-time software, gateware, firmware for digital communications, and/or signal processing algorithms.
    • Experience with project management duties (e.g. status reporting, schedule and budget development and analysis, risk/opportunity assessment, etc.).
    • Experience with HDL coding for Xilinx FPGAs using Vivado.
    • Experience Autocoding from Simulink.
    • Cybersecurity experience.
