    Job description and daily duties:

    • Perform geologic interpretation and mapping, including resource-specific, structural and/or various isopach maps, cross-sections, and production maps.

    • Construct geologic structure and stratigraphic maps

    • Construct maps of field and reservoir data, such as production information by formation

    • Interprets geologic data using Geographix (preferred), Petrel or Kingdom software.

    • Develop geologic interpretations and models from cuttings and cores

    • Generate digital presentations for meetings for management.

    • Responsible for formulating and recommending plans for development of oil and gas assets

    • Develops geoprogs and assists with directional planning of horizontal wells.

    • Maintain a geologic database (tops, net pay counts, etc.), and to generate base and contour maps from well and seismic data.

    • Utilize public data sources as well as proprietary and purchased data sets to fully inform a geologic opinion on economic locations to drill and determine through resource and fluid phase mapping how much and what type of hydrocarbon will be produced. This includes but is not limited to academic papers, industry investor presentations, input from Petrophysicist and geomechanics SMEs, core data, log libraries, state regulatory agencies, geosteering, etc.

    • Must exhibit good inter-team communication: defining buy areas for the land team, creating reservoir maps based on type curves from the reservoir engineer, working with drilling to place laterals in the optimum landing zone and trouble shoot drilling issues, and assisting completions engineers on geo hazards and rock quality along the lateral to optimize frac designs.

    • Basic knowledge of petrophysical modelling and how to incorporate it into geologic interpretations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • B.S. and M.S. degree in geology with over 15 years of experience in using interpretation software (such as GeoGraphix, Petra, Kingdom or similar commercial software),

    • Has experience applying facies modeling, sequence stratigraphy, basin analysis, and petrophysical analysis for the purpose of defining the character and distribution of petroleum producing lithologies.

    • Has extensive experience in the ranking of prospective areas and formulate an exploration strategy based on basin analysis, risk assessment, ultimate potential, and economic analysis.

    • Has extensive skill in assimilating complex inter-disciplinary data (geological, geophysical, basin wide framework, structural setting, stratigraphy, thermal maturity, core and cutting, Microseismic data), to generate high-quality oil and gas leads and prospects.

    Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

    • Understanding of resource and reserve estimation methods for oil and natural gas deposits.

    • Ability to integrate geologic and geophysical data in areas of undrilled or undeveloped locations, to produce high-quality oil and gas prospects or plays.
