Job DescriptionHours: 2nd Shift - 5:00pm-1:30am
Chancey Metals, LLC (CMLLC) applies the trade craft name COATING APPLICATION SPECIALIST (CAS) to employees with specialized technical expertise and work experience. The combination of technical expertise and work experience is used to categorize the specialist by Class 1, 2 or 3. Chancey Metals's entry level specialist is designated as CAS 1 and will be encouraged to build his or her technical expertise and work experience to achieve CAS 2 and 3 designations. Employee compensation rates are based upon these classification levels in conjunction fair market rates of pay and other considerations. The following description encompasses all the tasks that a fully qualified CAS 3 should be able to perform.
Application of industrial coatings involves surface preparation and coating application to steel and concrete surfaces of complex industrial structures. The CAS 3 understands corrosion theory and control, measuring and monitoring ambient conditions, basic mathematics, advanced coating calculations and the chemistry, technical data and physical characteristics of complex coating systems. The CAS 3 must be able to read and understand construction blueprints, drawings and specifications. He or she has the expertise and technical skills necessary to operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex machinery and equipment including measuring and monitoring equipment, specialized pumps, compressors, electrical generators, and accessory equipment including, guns, hoses, mixers and metering devices. The CAS 3 has the knowledge and ability to prepare concrete and metal substrates for coatings in accordance with strict technical specifications and industry standards. The CAS 3 can apply coatings within close tolerances for thickness, mix ratios, temperatures and humidity. The CAS 3 can ensure coatings are applied in accordance with manufacturer's instructions while also ensuring a professional and aesthetically pleasing fit and finish.
By the nature of their work, coating specialists often work in dangerous environments. They understand and comply with extensive health and safety regulations, policies and procedures. They can protect the environment from hazardous substances used during the performance of work and ensure that hazardous substances are properly contained and disposed in accordance with stringent federal, state and local regulations. The CAS 3 meticulously documents field activities and delivers reports intended to ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual and administrative requirements.
Coating specialists are engaged in physically demanding work and must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Specialists frequently handle, lift, carry and set up parts and equipment that weight up to 50 pounds (23 kg) and occasionally they may lift and carry items that weigh over 50 pounds (23 kg).
All Chancey Metals employees must maintain a working knowledge of the Employee Handbook and comply with all requirements contained therein. All specialist regardless of Class must be willing to travel to or report directly to various job sites and work various standard/off hour work shifts. All specialists must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record to be able to drive company vehicles and equipment.
