Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) is in search of a Power Resources Planner to become part of our team!

ABOUT THE ROLE:
As directed by the Director of Power Supply Resources, this position covers various tasks supporting Power Supply Resources strategic planning, load forecasting optimization, managerial reporting, and budget planning efforts. Additionally, it involves aiding in the development and execution of solutions to help achieve 3CE's greenhouse gas reduction objectives. The role requires conducting in-depth research and statistical analyses related to load forecasting and energy market conditions.
THE PERFECT FIT:
The ideal candidate should possess a solid background in data analytics and have experience in analyzing renewable energy projects in the CAISO. The selected candidate will display self-motivation, strong task management skills, and attention to detail, given the current remote nature of the position.

Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) operates as a Community Choice Aggregation agency formed by local communities to provide clean and renewable electricity to 435,000 customers across Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties. Representing 35 local city and county governments in the Central Coast, 3CE is committed to lowering greenhouse gas emissions through local management of utility-scale renewable electricity generation offered at competitive rates. The organization also focuses on implementing innovative energy programs to promote the electrification of transportation and built environments, emphasizing long-term electric rate stability, energy security, reduced dependence on fossil fuels, and boosting the local economy. 3CE is dedicated to catering to the distinct requirements of the diverse community and aims to achieve economic and environmental advantages by advancing renewable energy initiatives.
EXAMPLE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide lead analytical support for managing the electric supply portfolio.
- Monitor and report net open position, supply costs, and risks.
- Support procurement activities to meet various 3CE objectives and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain models and tools for optimizing load forecasting, portfolio cost, revenues, and risk reporting.
- Assist in integrated resource planning, modeling, and budget establishment efforts.
- Contribute to implementing and optimizing electric supply resources and storage systems.
- Aid in developing systems, processes, and reports to ensure compliance with relevant laws, standards, and regulatory requirements in California's electricity provision sector.
- Assist in the analysis of technology, policy, and economics to support the design and evaluation of programs for microgrid and distributed energy resource initiatives.
- Support the selection of energy solutions through local and regional proposals to meet reliability and sustainability goals.
- Contribute to legislative and regulatory activities by offering expertise and policy analysis.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
- Understanding of statistics, machine learning, and optimization principles.
- Knowledge of electricity generation, transmission, and power markets.
- Familiarity with clean and renewable energy technologies and regulatory activities.
- Understanding of power purchase agreements and related compliance programs.
Ability to:
- Be detail-oriented.
- Prioritize tasks efficiently and solve problems effectively.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Establish good relationships and work well independently or as a team.
- Produce professional written work.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Statistics, Accounting, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of three years' experience as an analyst in an electric utility or similar organization.
Equipment and Wi-Fi: Adequate technological equipment and connectivity required for remote work.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
3CE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CLOSE THIS OPPORTUNITY AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE APPLICATION VOLUME.
