    So, what will a Pathologist at Terrestris do?

    You will play a crucial role as a Pathologist at the Fayetteville, NC VA Medical Center by conducting thorough examinations of patient tissues and specimens to diagnose diseases and provide essential information for treatment plans. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including clinicians and surgeons, to ensure accurate and timely pathology reports. Your expertise will contribute to the overall quality of patient care, helping to guide treatment decisions and improve outcomes. Additionally, you will actively participate in continuing education and quality assurance programs to stay abreast of advancements in the field and maintain the highest standards of diagnostic accuracy. Your commitment to precision and attention to detail will be integral to supporting the health and well-being of veterans in the community.

    What does a typical day look like for a Physician Assistant look like?

    You will:

    • Start your day by reviewing patient cases and medical histories.
    • Conduct detailed examinations of pathology specimens, including surgical tissues, biopsies, and cytology samples.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons and oncologists, to discuss and interpret diagnostic findings.
    • Utilize advanced laboratory equipment and technology to perform various diagnostic tests and analyses.
    • Attend multidisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases and contribute to treatment planning.
    • Provide timely and accurate pathology reports, communicating findings to clinicians and ensuring comprehensive patient care.
    • Actively participate in quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability in diagnostic services.
    • Stay updated on the latest advancements in pathology through continuous education and attending relevant conferences.
    • Engage in research activities, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge and enhancing patient care.
    • Actively participate in training and mentoring medical residents, fellows, and other healthcare staff.
    • Adhere to strict ethical and professional standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring the integrity of the diagnostic process.
    • Contribute to the overall functioning and improvement of the pathology department within the VA medical center.

    What qualifications do you look for?

    You might be the leader we're looking for if you have:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
    • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.
    • Valid medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
    • Residency training in pathology.
    • Subspecialty training or fellowship in a specific area of pathology (e.g., surgical pathology, hematopathology, cytopathology).
    • Board certification by the American Board of Pathology (ABP).
    • Proficiency in diagnostic pathology techniques.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Familiarity with laboratory information systems and digital pathology tools.
    • Knowledge of and adherence to regulatory and accreditation requirements.
