    Description

    Under the supervision of the Head of Technical Services Librarian and/or the Library Director, the Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Library Assistant is responsible for receiving, processing, maintaining and updating the bibliographic records for serial publications in various formats. The acquisition assistant's primary responsibilities are the accurate and timely purchase and receipt of library materials and equipment, and the maintenance and monitoring of library materials bookkeeping.
    Job Duties

    Cataloging Functions:
    o Search OCLC WorldCat for matching bibliographic records for electronic materials.

    o Evaluate and edit OCLC copy according to local and national cataloging standards (RDA, AACR2, Library of Congress, OCLC, MARC, etc.), and transfer to the local catalog.

    o Create and maintain local holdings records in OCLC

    o Verify and maintain electronic resources holdings.

    o Initiate changes to the catalog to reflect the addition, withdrawal, and transfer of library materials.

    o Verify and import authority records.

    o Assist in testing, evaluating, and implementing systems and other developments affecting the library catalog.
    Supervision:
    o Supervise student assistants.
    Supply Management:
    o Keep and maintain an inventory of office supplies.

    o Keep and maintain toners and ink for all library printers and copiers.

    o Order and track any needed supplies.
    Acquisition Files:
    o Maintain account codes and vendor designation.

    o Order records in the integrated library system (Sierra) and Microsoft Excel.

    o Maintain Purchase card files as required by the university.

    o Check financial records against Argos reports to ensure data accuracy.
    Mail Handling:
    o Open and sort mail for the law library.

    o Sort mail for the law school.

    o Receive deliveries.
    Additional Duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Four years of related work experience and a high school level education; or two years related work experience and an Associate degree; or little or no work experience and minimum of a Bachelor degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education
    Preferred Qualifications

    Knowledge of Sierra Library Management Systems or a similar system
