    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform tasks associated with the design and engineering of switchgear and switchboards for medium and low voltage electrical power distribution and control in strict compliance with company engineering processes, quality procedures and design standards

    · Review job order documents and organize mechanical designs

    · Prepare technical submittals to include layout drawings, Bill of Materials, wiring schematics, test procedures to meet customer approvals

    · Generate detailed design drawings and parts list for manufacturing

    · Organize and participate in meetings with customers and other departments to complete product design work

    • Verify equipment design to meet compliance to applicable U.L, NEC and NEMA standards
    • Develop test and inspection procedures and verify that finished products meet design and performance criteria
    • Stay technically acquainted with production methods, cost estimating procedures, new development technologies, materials, electrical components, etc.

    · Review electrical drawings and specifications in order to determine project requirements and prepare quotations that are on time, on budget, on spec as accurately as possible

    • Maintain close working relationships with vendors and other departments within SAI
    • Occasional weekend and/or evening work and travel to jobsites
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as required
    • Regular in-person attendance is an essential function of this position

    Education and/or Experience

    Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics, automation or robotics, engineering from an accredited engineering school required.

    1-5 years of experience in heavy industrial or institutional mechanical engineering design, preferably involved in electrical power distribution equipment.

    Knowledge and Skills

    · Articulate verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to prepare written specifications and contractual documents.

    · Proficient in AutoCAD Mechanical and Pro E Mechanical design software and Microsoft 365

    · Must be able to read, write and converse fluently in English with the level of competency that will permit the applicant to function in the position.
