Job summary
This role offers a unique hybrid work environment supporting field and reporting tasks for projects related to land development, transmission, mining Federal and State regulatory work renewable energy oil gas clients.
- Conduct natural resource field surveys emphasis on identifying surveying flora including native nonnative species within the Southwest region including Arizona Nevada New Mexico Fieldwork will often require long field days multi-day field hitches in remote areas may occasionally involve weekends working remotely Serve as a field lead for natural resource surveys supervising biological survey crews overseeing quality data collection troubleshooting routine problems in the field Use GIS applications ArcGIS Field Maps ArcGIS Online to complete data collection in the field Organize assist with QAQC analysis of field data Prepare technical reports with oversight by Senior staff Work in a multidisciplinary team collaborating with biologists water resource specialists cultural resource experts environmental scientists planners to conduct natural resource assessments Provide support to ecological restoration projects participating in feasibility assessments planning restoration construction oversight maintenance performance monitoring reporting visual presentations overall project management with support from Senior staff Adhere to safety program look out for safety of others promptly communicating mitigating safety hazards Be an active member ongoing development SWCAs Restoration Practice Group Independently supervise biological survey crew independently assigning directing activities of others on behalf of SWCA ensuring quality delivery Ensuring employees understand responsibilities delegated tasks being held accountable if crew members under supervision are not performing activities correctly productively safely Serving conduit communication between employees senior managers communicating issues relevant senior managers Receiving resolving complaints from employees in the filed Monitoring team productivity offering timely performance guidance determining when correction action needed delivering appropriate feedback Experience And Qualifications For Success Minimum Qualifications At least one year experience environmental consulting related fields focus botany habitat restoration Bachelor Science biology botany restoration ecology landscape architecture environmental science related fields Experience conducting botanical surveys special-status plant surveys Experience using combination dichotomous keys identification manuals identify plants species level Knowledge experience identifying non-native plant species Knowledge experience identifying Arizona flora fauna Colorado Plateau desert regions Collect organizing conducting quality control checks on filed data meets highest standards latest protocols tools Interest learning about supporting ecological restoration project monitoring Demonstrated passion natural resources capacity learn desire challenge yourself trying new things ability communicate team members clients verbal writing Ability safely operate four-wheel drive vehicles access remote locations Ability travel location walk conduct filedwork long hours sometimes inclement weather rugged terrain high altitudes carry equipment supplies weighing up to forty pounds Ability work outside all weather conditions effectively execute tasks conform shifting priorities demands Valid driver license Preferred Qualifications Three years experience environmental consulting related fields focus botany habitat restoration Masters Science degree biological landscape architectural environmental sciences other related fields Wetland plant identification hydric soil classification wetland delineation experience Experience wildlife surveys Providing guidance weed adaptive management treatment techniques treatment timing Direct standard re-vegetation techniques overseeing implementation hydroseeding
