- Identify root causes for failed devices and components via testing, data analysis, cell disassembly, and process knowledge.
- Create and facilitate the adoption of quantitative metrics for process feedback including optical, X-Ray, and ultrasound characterization techniques.
- Drive process improvement changes in collaboration with process owners and provide statistical validation.
- Collect, develop, and refine correlative FA techniques.
- Communicate detailed FA reports FA to process owners and the broader team.
- Master's Degree with 1 year experience OR Bachelors Degree with 3 years experience in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Scientific and Statistical programming experience with Python.
- Experience and understanding of digital image processing or digital signal processing.
- Comfortable and able to perform work within a glovebox, dry room, or fume hood on-site.
- Excellent organizational skills, meticulous, and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable using I/O interfaces with computer quality systems and databases.
- Familiarity with battery testing protocols and recipes
- Familiarity with battery tear down procedures.
- Familiarity with OM, SEM, FIB, and X-ray systems
- Familiarity with multiple sw interfaces and languages (e.g. python, R, JMP, Matlab, etc.)

What we need:
Quantumscape is seeking a motivated Battery FA Engineer for our Microscopy FA team. You will be responsible for identifying, characterizing, and communicating failure modes within the broader all solid-state battery team.
You will spearhead the development and training of solid-state battery teardown techniques and procedures, pre- and post-cycle cell characterization, and failure mode tracking and process improvement feedback to the broader team.
This work will drive the improvement, development, and future market release of our next generation batteries.Responsibilities:

Salary range for this role is between $107,200 and $163,500, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background.
