    Position Title: Office Assistant Language Acquisition Department (.5 FTE)

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. License: N/A
    2. Education:
      1. Required - High school diploma or equivalent.
    3. Experience:
      1. Required - One (1) year experience providing office support, including answering phone calls. Working with parents and students required. Spanish speaking required
      2. Preferred - One (1) year experience providing office support, including answering phone calls. Experience working with parents and students required. Spanish speaking required. Experience in handling these duties in a public-school office setting preferred.
    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Assists the Director of Language Acquisition by supporting the Language Acquisition program.
    2. Assists the Director of Language Acquisition in maintaining documentation for grant compliance.
    3. Provides office support for the department including printing, filing, and mailing reports as well as communicating with administration, teachers, and parents.
    4. Responsible for filling supply requisitions and inventory of supply orders for the department.
    5. Types and files purchase orders as requested by the Director of Language Acquisition.
    6. Contacts various vendors for quotes, purchasing of materials, inventory of materials, and disposition of materials.
    7. Performs data entry in various data platforms/programs.
    8. Assists with maintaining data so that the department's budget remains accurate.
    9. Assists with the Dual Language lottery placements.
    10. Assists with Registration of new students, welcoming families, review of records, and student placement.
    11. Sends records of transferring students to requesting school.
    12. Assists the department with student assessments.
    13. Assists with the coordination of evening events and participates in these events, as needed.
    14. Coordinates the logistics of night classes.
    15. Distributes papers to teachers and students.
    16. Distributes mail to teachers and staff.
    17. Assists with managing the TRIN (Translators and Interpreters) program.
    18. Assists the ESL Coordinator and the Spanish Interpreter, Translator and Community Outreach Specialist as needed.
    19. Provides translation and interpretation as needed.
    OTHER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Assist in other areas as needed.
    2. Complete other duties as needed.

    Technical: Must be proficient in utilizing data networking programs and printers to perform the work. Must be able to use the district email system, Google platforms, Microsoft Office, and the district's attendance system.

    Interpersonal: Must be able to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, students, businesses and community. Must have strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills; and a strong sense of teamwork. Must be able to cope with deadline pressures; make difficult decisions that impact the organization in a positive sense; work harmoniously with the community, students, parents, staff, and administration, etc.; communicate effectively with students, parents and staff; exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people; and follow directives given by Administration. Must also be a creative problem solver; and empathetic, humanistic and open-minded.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordination performance.

    Physical Effort: Work requires handling average weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods.

    Working Conditions: Some exposure to definitely disagreeable elements may exist, i.e., temperature changes, use of steps/stairs, walking long distances throughout the building, etc. Must be able to travel within and outside of the district. Must be available for evenings and weekend work/events.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 Days, Full-time, union Non-Exempt position

    SALARY RANGE: Minimum $15.33 per hour

    EVALUATION: Conducted annually
