- The primary focus of this position is on short term energy trading, fuel management, and asset optimization. Employees in this role are exposed to a dynamic and challenging work environment and will have the ability to develop, communicate, and execute trading/optimization strategies with targeted emphasis on FPL customer cost reduction.
- Marketing power, developing trade strategies, and optimization opportunities for assets, utilizing market knowledge and expertise
- Fuel management/forecasting, portfolio coordination, scheduling, and dispatch
- Coordinate with Generation Dispatch and Power Delivery to guarantee accuracy of forecasting and transactional prospects
- Understand utility economics to ensure minimum energy supply costs and maximize profits for generation portfolio
- Providing market insight and recommendations to power and gas traders
- Support Real-Time Desk Operations, providing guidance or backup functions, if necessary
- Operate within risk guidelines and strict adherence to NextEra core values
- Potential to relocate to back-up site during critical events, including extreme weather
- Monitors market conditions and analyzes transactions to help in identifying and executing energy trades
- Ensures transaction terms are beneficial to the organization and meet risk guidelines
- Optimizes economics to assure minimum energy supply costs and maximizes profits for generation portfolio
- Determines generation requirements and coordinates fuel procurement to meet obligations
- Coaches junior traders
