    Position Specific Description

    • The primary focus of this position is on short term energy trading, fuel management, and asset optimization. Employees in this role are exposed to a dynamic and challenging work environment and will have the ability to develop, communicate, and execute trading/optimization strategies with targeted emphasis on FPL customer cost reduction.
    • Marketing power, developing trade strategies, and optimization opportunities for assets, utilizing market knowledge and expertise
    • Fuel management/forecasting, portfolio coordination, scheduling, and dispatch
    • Coordinate with Generation Dispatch and Power Delivery to guarantee accuracy of forecasting and transactional prospects
    • Understand utility economics to ensure minimum energy supply costs and maximize profits for generation portfolio
    • Providing market insight and recommendations to power and gas traders
    • Support Real-Time Desk Operations, providing guidance or backup functions, if necessary
    • Operate within risk guidelines and strict adherence to NextEra core values
    • Potential to relocate to back-up site during critical events, including extreme weather

    Job Duties & Responsibilities

    • Monitors market conditions and analyzes transactions to help in identifying and executing energy trades
    • Ensures transaction terms are beneficial to the organization and meet risk guidelines
    • Optimizes economics to assure minimum energy supply costs and maximizes profits for generation portfolio
    • Determines generation requirements and coordinates fuel procurement to meet obligations
    • Coaches junior traders
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Experience:1+ years
