    We're looking for a Smart Home Safety Technology Research Engineer who will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of our smart home products.

    This position involves hands-on work in both laboratory and real-world settings, testing new and existing smart home safety technologies, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to the evolution of smart home solutions.

    Qualifications:
    B

    achelor's or higher in Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related field. Specialization or coursework in smart technologies, IoT devices, or home automation systems preferred.

    Demonstrable experience in a technical or research capacity, preferably within the smart home technology domain.

    Ideal candidates should be able to showcase previous projects or roles that involved the development, testing, or evaluation of smart home products.

    Strong analytical skills are essential, with a history of performing detailed technical analyses & generating comprehensive reports. Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations is crucial.

    Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members across different departments.

    Accessibility Awareness (Preferred): Completion of an accredited accessibility training program is desirable.


    Smart Home Platform Experience (Preferred): Hands-on experience with the installation, setup, & management of smart home platforms such as Alexa, Google Home, or similar technologies.

    Familiarity with the ecosystem of smart home devices & their integration is beneficial.


    Technical Skills (Preferred): Experience in home automation & system integration, with a preference for candidates who have also worked with programming languages & software development tools.

    This knowledge supports the development & enhancement of interconnected smart home systems.

    UX/UI Skills (Preferred): Knowledge & experience in UX/UI design principles are desirable.

    A portfolio demonstrating previous work on app or device interfaces that enhance user interaction with smart home technologies would be advantageous.

    Job Summary
    Designs, fabricates, and maintains research instrumentation and develops conceptual project design and instrumentation, software programs, and data collection methods.
    Assists with conducting research. Oversees research projects and writes and presents results reports at conferences.
    Essential Functions

    Benchmarking new and existing smart home technologies and products to identify gaps, opportunities for innovation, and potential improvements.

    Testing and validating the functionality, compatibility, and interoperability of these products within our existing ecosystems.

    Assist in the development and testing of new smart home technologies and products.


    Conduct experimental tests in laboratory and real-world settings, collect data, and analyze results to support our research and development objectives.

    Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and clinicians to refine product designs and processes based on empirical data and test results.

    Maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure the proper functioning of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.

    Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate research findings and technological developments to stakeholders.


    Stay up-to-date with the latest market trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies in the smart home sector to ensure our products meet and exceed industry standards and consumer expectations.

    Physical Effort

    Ability to work hands on in both laboratory and real-world settings; testing new and existing smart home safety technologies.
    Heavy physical effort required. Requires extensive standing, moving, ascending/descending, bending, lifting, and/or carrying. May be required to move objects over 50 pounds with or without the assistance of equipment.
