    from start to finish. You will be empowered with the latest risk understanding to analyze deals and support our clients,
    working closely with our team of actuaries and risk analysts, including our in-house group of weather and data scientists.
    Underwriting positions are based in Bermuda, Chicago, London, New York, Singapore, Sydney, and Zurich.

    About the Position
    Reporting to the SVP and Branch Manager of the Illinois office, the VP, Underwriting, will be responsible for managing
    Property and Casualty lines of business for regional multiline accounts. The successful candidate will be comfortable
    working both collaboratively and independently and a track record of sound decision making, productive relationship
    building internally and externally, and identifying opportunities to achieve profitable growth across various market
    conditions. As an Underwriter on our team, you will have an opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the management
    of the business. Products written from our Schaumburg office include, but are not limited to Proportional and Quota
    Share, Multi-line, Property Per Risk, Casualty Excess, Clash, and Property Catastrophe.

    RenaissanceRe is an in-office culture, and we believe we are better together. The VP role is based in the Schaumburg
    office and will join a collaborative, high-performing team of ~15 underwriters, actuaries, and underwriting assistants.
    In addition to regional client travel, the VP, Underwriting, will be expected to travel within the continental United States,
    with select travel to Bermuda other RenaissanceRe offices.

    Key Responsibilities


    • Contribute to the development of a profitable book of business, focused on both renewals and new business
    • Handle day-to-day underwriting, e.g. due diligence, analysis, interpretation of coverages, negotiation of terms
    • Build, manage, and grow mutually beneficial client and broker relationships through regular and substantive
    communication, including sharing our underwriting requirements and philosophies


    • Model client centricity in all interactions, identifying, developing, and executing on creative, fit-for-purpose
    solutions


    • Demonstrate a high level of intellectual curiosity to stay informed of and communicate relevant market trends at
    both business line and portfolio levels; serve as an expert resource for clients, colleagues, and senior
    management


    • Contribute to continuous improvement in our risk management analytics and culture by actively engaging with
    appropriate tools, systems, and reporting

    Candidate Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of relevant experience in property & casualty insurance or reinsurance underwriting; multiline
    experience preferred


    • Strong working knowledge of general insurance business, drivers of growth & profitability, distribution,
    operations, regulatory environment, risk management, including primary and reinsurance underwriting, claims,
    accounting, actuarial, and information practices and principles


    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including mental agility to identify alternative
    solutions


    • Exceptional presentation, relationship, verbal, and written communication skills across diverse levels and
    functions


    • Flexibility and adaptability, receptive to new ideas and able to adjust as needed to changing conditions;
    energized by positive and business-driven change


    • Influence leadership skills, relative to both peer and senior stakeholders as well as mentorship opportunities
    within the team
